Subito un podio per Gerhard Kerschbaumer ai campionati mondiali di Champéry, in Svizzera. Mercoledì 31 agosto il campione altoatesino della TX Active-Bianchi ha conquistato il terzo posto nella gara di staffetta, con il quartetto italiano completato da Marco Aurelio Fontana, Eva Lechner e Lorenzo Samparisi. L'oro è andato alla Francia, che ha preceduto i "padroni di casa" della Svizzera. Primo degli azzurri in gara, Kerschbaumer ha completato il suo giro in 12'33". L'Italia, già bronzo agli Europei di Dohnany (Slovacchia), ha coperto i 18,7 km totali in 54'58", a 54 secondi dai francesi. "Sono davvero felice per il podio – ha commentato l’altoatesino, campione europeo il mese scorso – e devo dire che tutta la squadra si è espressa bene: è un risultato meritato. Adesso guardo con fiducia alla prova individuale di venerdì".
