E’ il giorno delle celebrazioni a due passi da casa per Gerhard Kerschbaumer, che festeggerà il successo di Coppa del Mondo in Val di Sole, sabato 20 agosto. Nell’ultimo round del circuito UCI, l’atleta della TX Active-Bianchi cercherà di onorare senza l’assillo del risultato il titolo ormai in cassaforte, prima di alzare il meritato trofeo davanti ai suoi tifosi. Quattro vittorie nelle prime sei prove, del resto, hanno incoronato l’altoatesino come il leader indiscusso della categoria U23. Kerschbaumer gareggerà alle 9.30, nella prova comunque più attesa, davanti a molti amici, parenti e sostenitori. “La gara che aspetto di più è quella in Val di Sole. Il percorso è duro e tecnico quanto basta, ci sono salite e tratti tosti che per le mie caratteristiche atletiche sono l'ideale. E poi Commezzadura dista un'ora e mezza circa di macchina da dove abito, per me è come gareggiare di fronte a casa”, ha dichiarato qualche giorno fa il campione europeo di Dohnany. In Val di Sole ci saranno anche gli élite Stephane Tempier e Tony Longo, che prenderanno il via alle 14. Riflettori puntati soprattutto sulla prova del francese, che dopo aver mantenuto la Top-10 assoluta a Nove Mesto na Morave, in Repubblica Ceca, cercherà di conservarla e magari migliorarla nell’appuntamento trentino.

Italian biker gets ready to celebrates World Cup XCO’s overall success in U23 series in Val di Sole (Northern Italy) on Saturday, August 20th. In the last UCI challenge’s round, TX Active-Bianchi’s rider aims to honour the conquered prestigious title without being forced to win at all costs. Four victories in the first six rounds, anyway, crowned the rider from Bressanone as the U23 series’ undisputed leader. Kerschbaumer will race at 9.30 am, in the most awaited round, before his friends, relatives and supporters. “Val di Sole’s race is the most awaited for me. Course is enough demanding and technical, there are climbs and strong stretches ideal for my skills. And Commezzadura is about one hour and half by car from where I live: for me it’s like to race ahead home”, European champion commented some days ago. Even élite Stephane Tempier and Tony Longo will run in Val di Sole, at 2 pm. In the spotlight there will be above all French rider’s performance: after having kept overall Top-10 in Nove Mesto Na Morave (Czech Republic), Tempier will try to maintain or even improve it in the seventh and last World Cup’s round.
