Nuovo alloro in bacheca per Gerhard Kerschbaumer, punta di diamante della TX Active-Bianchi e leader di Coppa del Mondo. L’altoatesino si è laureato campione d’Italia U23 a Peio Terme, in Trentino, domenica 17 luglio. Bissato così il titolo tricolore ottenuto nel 2009, quando Kerschbaumer vinse anche i titoli europeo e mondiale juniores. L’asso della squadra di Felice Gimondi ha fatto gara di vertice sin dall’inizio, prima con Luca Braidot, poi dall’inizio del secondo giro in perfetta solitudine. E da solo ha tagliato il traguardo in sella alla sua Methanol SL2, con gli indici al cielo, davanti allo stesso Luca Braidot e ai vari Pettinà, Falaschi e l'altro Braidot, Daniele. Sfortunata invece la prova di Tony Longo e Cristian Cominelli nella gara Elite. Dopo un buon avvio all’inseguimento del favorito Marco Aurelio Fontana, Longo è stato vittima di una caduta, che prima gli ha fatto perdere posizioni e poi lo ha costretto al ritiro, a causa di un dolore al polso. Non ha concluso la gara neanche Cominelli. "Kerschbaumer ha conquistato la sua prima maglia tricolore da under 23 in maniera più che autoritaria. Oggi non ha avuto rivali. Longo è stato davvero sfortunato, era terzo quando è scivolato in una curva stretta in un tratto asfaltato, reso viscido dalla pioggia", il commento del team manager della TX Active-Bianchi, Massimo Ghirotto. Poca gloria anche per Ricardo Marinheiro, ai campionati nazionali portoghesi. Condizionato da una caduta nel riscaldamento, l’U23 lusitano è stato costretto al ritiro nel secondo giro. Sabato 16 luglio la squadra diretta da Massimo Ghirotto era invece salita sul podio ai “Championnats de France VTT 2011” di Méribel con Stephane Tempier, terzo alle spalle di Julien Absalon e Maxime Marotte. Italian biker took Italian champion’s jersey in the U23 series in Peio Terme (Northern Italy) on Sunday, July 17th. Kerschbaumer had seconds of the “tricolore” success clinched two years ago, when he achieved even European and World title in Juniors series. The ace of Felice Gimondi’s team run in the front positions with his Methanol SL2 model bike since the race’s start, first with Luca Braidot, then alone. During the second lap, he outdistanced all his opponents, crossing the finish-line all alone with the forefingers oriented toward the sky, ahead of Luca Braidot, Pettinà, Falaschi and Daniele Braidot. Unlucky day for Tony Longo and Cristian Cominelli in the Elite series’ race. After a good start in pursuit of the front-runner Marco Aurelio Fontana, Longo crashed during the second lap, losing some positions in a first moment, then leaving off the race, because of a wrist-ache. Neither Cominelli reached the finish-line. “Kerschbaumer achieved his first ‘tricolore’ jersey in U23 series in a masterful way. Today he was without rivals.
