Tony Longo (TX Active-Bianchi) su Bianchi Methanol SL2 si è piazzato secondo nella Valleogra MTB Race, prova unica del Campionato italiano Marathon, disputata a Schio (Vicenza) domenica 24 giugno. L’atleta trentino è stato preceduto dal solo Juri Ragnoli e ha tagliato il traguardo con oltre due minuti di vantaggio sul duo Pettinà-Ronchi, in lotta per il podio.

“E’ vero che nel campionato italiano è importante vincere la maglia - ha commentato Longo dopo l’arrivo - ma posso comunque essere soddisfatto di questo risultato, avendo corso pochissime Marathon quest’anno. Ho dovuto ovviare a un problema nella parte iniziale, poi ho staccato i compagni d’inseguimento sulla salita più lunga e ho corso tutta la seconda metà della gara in solitaria”.

Il suo compagno di squadra Stephane Tempier si è invece piazzato 33° nella quinta prova di Coppa del Mondo XCO, a Mont Sainte-Anne, sabato 23 giugno.

Domenica positiva per lo Junior team: gli allievi Giorgio Rossi e Chiara Teocchi e l’esordiente Katia Moro sono tornati vittoriosi dal 2° Trofeo Città di Verona, gli junior Cristian Boffelli e Federico Barri si sono classificati 2° e 3° su Bianchi Methanol SX nell’ottava edizione della Franciacortabike a Erbusco (Brescia)

Longo close to win at Marathon Italian Championships

TX Active-Bianchi's Tony Longo on Bianchi Methanol SL2 took second at Valleogra MTB Race - Marathon Italian Championships in Schio (Veneto, North-East Italy) on Sunday, June 24th. Preceded only by Juri Ragnoli, Longo crossed the finish line with a two minutes-advantage on Pettinà and Ronchi, sprinting for the third position.

“At Italian championship the main goal is to wear the champion’s jersey, but I’m really satisfied because of this result: I run few Marathon races in 2012. In the early race I lost time because of a problem, then I was able to outdistance the other chasers on the longest uphill and I went to the finish line alone to take the second position” Longo commented after the race.

His team-mate Stephane Tempier placed 33th at World Cup XCO round-5 in Mont Sainte-Anne (Canada), on Saturday, June 23rd.

It was a good Sunday also for TX Active-Bianchi’s Junior team: cadets Giorgio Rossi and Chiara Teocchi and rookie Katia Moro clinched victory at 2° Trofeo Città di Verona. Junior Cristian Boffelli and Federico Barri on Bianchi Methanol SX placed 2nd and 3rd respectively at 8th Franciacorta Bike in Erbusco (Brescia, Northern Italy).
